CAD Administrator


Job Details

The CAD Administrator is an integral part of engineering and product development operations. This role ensures that Computer Aided Design (CAD) data is well-organized, easily accessible, and the Product Data Management (PDM) systems are effectively maintained and supported. The PDM Administrator will be highly knowledgeable in data management throughout the product lifecycle, developing strategies in the areas of solid modeling, Product Data Management, Product Life Cycle Management, and Configuration Management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)
Define, configure, and maintain Product Data Management (PDM) workflows using AutoDesk Vault Professional
Maintain and administer Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Autodesk Vault Professional PDM systems.
Oversight and management of software licenses for all CAD, PDM, and other engineering software/tools.
Coordinate with external vendors to provide additional CAD, PDM, and PLM support.
Work with management on software budget forecasting, Statement of Work & contract reviews, licensing agreements and maintenance.
Manage the installation, configuration, updating, and migration of all engineering CAD/PDM systems.
Author and maintain custom Content Center libraries for Autodesk products.
Provide CAD technical support and training to Engineering team.
Collaborate with the Engineering teams to develop, implement, and maintain CAD file standards, templates, libraries, and system configurations.
Ensure that all CAD data is correctly managed, stored, and version controlled.
Create design rules and workflows to be followed by the Engineering team.
Automate processes whether standardized through workflows, templates, and other means.
Provide comprehensive training, guidance, and rollout plans to engineering team.
Publish Tips, Techniques, and Best Practices for use of CAD and PDM.

Education and Experience
2-year Engineering Technology degree in with a minimum of five years of related experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills
At least five years of experience working with Autodesk Inventor and Vault Professional.
Experience using iLogic to improve engineering workflows and automate processes.
Experience with Autodesk Inventor Cable & Harness and Tube & Pipe environments.
Experience creating custom Content Center libraries and publishing components for use in Cable & Harness and Tube & Pipe environments.
Familiarity with CAD related hardware and able to specify optimal CAD workstations.
Ability to provide accurate, professional, and error-free documents in a timely manner.
Able to effectively work collaboratively with engineering team and other functional groups.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
