Position Description
The Buyer (PET) will support supply chain strategic initiatives within the direct categories through supplier's performance and spend analysis, effective supplier negotiations, identification of cost saving opportunities and continuous improvement. This person will work with internal teams and suppliers to help identify cost improvement initiatives that could add value and reduce complexity.
Essential Functions
- Integrate direct procurement activities through Refresco by proactive identification of new sourcing opportunities, leveraging knowledge of suppliers, supply chain teams and other procurement category managers.
- Plans, organizes, direct and control activities related to each direct spend category.
- Manage direct supplier relationship including supplier scorecards, monitoring contract terms & conditions, contract amendments and resolving supplier's issues as needed.
- Aids in identifying vendors to procure commodities, meeting criteria such as price, quantity, quality and delivery date and places contracts.
- Maintain communications with supply sources, follow up with daily activities, assist category manager.
- Interviews sales representatives to develop new sources of supplies, securing favorable terms for Refresco. Updates records and files.
- Interprets and communicates purchasing procedures to departments; assists departments in initiating new supplier requisitions and solves problems with orders.
- Assist in resolving purchasing problems between plant and suppliers.

Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Operations or related field required; extensive experience may be considered in lieu of the appropriate degree.
- One (1) to three (3) years of procurement experience preferably in food/beverage manufacturing.
Position-specific skills:
- Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
- Skill in preparing and analyzing complex technical specifications and bids.
- Solid Technical and Analytical Skills.
- Be a problem solver.
- Solid Project Management skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively with different levels of the organization.
- Must understand “Total Cost Value” concepts.
- Must be able to set up processes that monitor project progress and completion rates.
- Must be able to work independently and handle multiple work assignments.
- Must be able to work well with others in a team environment.
- Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet application.
- Hands on execution and be a change “leader”.
- Strong sense of urgency.
