Position Title Small Animal Caretaker, CVM Department DeBusk Vet Teaching Center Position Category Staff Full Time Job Description
The Small Animal Caretaker will be working within the scope and guidelines of OSHA and USDA. This person will work closely with students and designated faculty and will assist in the daily, thorough cleaning of all animal areas, including inside/outside runs, cat areas, and floors,laundry; in providing a healthy, safe, clean and pleasant environment and facilities for the animals and the public; in promoting a humane and caring attitude toward all animals under the direction of the designated faculty. The Small Animal Caretaker will be responsible for monitoring the health of the animals on an ongoing basis and rapidly identifying any health problems or conditions (medical or behavioral) and immediately reporting it to the supervisor or veterinary technician
Required Qualifications
* High school diploma; *affection for animals, concern for their welfare, and a willingness to accommodate animals in the work place; *physical ability to push up to 75 pounds and carry up to 40 pounds regularly throughout a normal workday required * availability and a willingness to work a flexible schedule

make notes in medical records of animals that are used in teaching, comply with all IACUC guidelines

treating all animals humanely, properly, and with compassion at all times, regardless of the situation or circumstance.
