Job Title: Graphics Specialist (Public Utilities Company)

San Diego, CA (92101) - 4 days on-site, 1 day WFH

1-Year W-2 Assignment, potential to extend

Pay Rate: Up to $25.81/ HR

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in design or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of professional experience
  • Online portfolio showcasing expertise in graphic design, print production, and digital applications
  • Experience in both print and digital design
  • Ability to translate creative concepts into actionable projects
  • Process-oriented self-starter
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office, Acrobat, and familiarity with the Windows platform
  • Familiarity with cloud-based software (Dropbox, OneDrive) and project management tools (Trello)
  • Proficient in photo editing and retouching, including metadata editing and batch processing
  • Knowledge of creating and working with templates and style sheets
  • Familiarity with advertising, marketing, and media terminology and processes
  • Availability for 40 hours per week with a hybrid schedule (4 days in office)

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the art director
  • Follow development timeline to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Execute brand standards effectively
  • Stay updated on graphic design trends, techniques, and software
  • Prepare press-ready files for various types of printing and digital applications based on supplied specifications
  • Maintain production files including fonts, images, logos, and other artwork
  • Make corrections and modifications to client proofs as required
  • Process photography including cropping, retouching, editing metadata, and uploading to an image portal
  • Take photos at company events using provided iPhone for social media
  • Source images, understanding copyright laws and optimal enlargement sizes.

Reporting to - Graphic Design and Brand Manager**

Hours:

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Parking:

Parking at 4th/K will be reimbursed.

Managers Notes:

  • Requires 3-5 years of professional experience. This corporate creative role involves direct collaboration with Heather (Art Director). Sempra provides a Mac computer, iPhone, desk space, and badge.
  • Duties vary daily, necessitating comfort with executing brand standards and updating documents for both print and digital platforms.
  • Strong task-oriented, timeline-driven focus with excellent communication skills. Responsibilities include documenting events onsite, image management, and Photoshop retouching.
  • Familiarity with Trello preferred, as it's the team's current project management tool.

Interview Process:

  • Interview with Heather
  • Joint interview with Heather and manager

Digital/Print Responsibilities:

  • Work on mass company report released 1-2 times annually, focusing on content flow, imagery, email header graphics, social media, and templates (Adobe Design Suite, Canva).
  • Digital screens, elevator signs, and TV screens within the building are key areas of focus, with more emphasis on digital but occasional print requirements.

Education:

Associate's degree is acceptable, though a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
