Construction Materials Service Manager

Location: Supporting the NorCal market - preferred locations are Sacramento, Hayward, or Stockton markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive strategic business development and growth for the service line
  • Oversee well-trained inspection/testing and project management professionals
  • Collaborate with professional staff and actively work with clients to deliver complex programs/projects
  • Work with other project managers to direct construction services professionals during mid to large-scale programs
  • Provide tools, skills, opportunities, and mentorship to elevate the team s performance
  • Build strong teams collaboratively and fulfill the firm s needs
  • Demonstrate technical support and leadership
  • Engage local staff to execute a Construction Services business plan
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality, professional construction support services
  • Understand construction services business drivers and Project Management methodology
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, expanding the client's visibility in Northern California
  • Support continued professional development and technical growth for staff
  • Prepare proposals, materials testing fee estimates, and interact with clients and municipalities
  • Oversee all phases of project delivery, from initiation to closure, across commercial, industrial, government, and institutional projects

Experience:

  • Minimum 15-20+ years of construction services experience with an emphasis on Construction Materials Engineering and Testing services
  • 10-15 years of project management experience and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
  • 10+ years of supervisory/management experience (critical). This person needs to be able to bring a team together made up of different types of personalities.
  • Previous experience in materials and soils lab supervision or management
  • Proven project management experience working closely with clients. This is not a PM role, but they need to be able to mentor their staff on project management.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to lead project teams, and mentor staff.
  • Knowledge of field testing procedures and laboratory testing procedures
