In accordance with state law and Sutter policy, our onsite workers are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19, with some limited, legally required exceptions. The recruitment interview process includes these requirements unless the position is fully remote.

Thoroughly communicates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by facility personnel, visitors, physicians or patients immediately to the Nursing Supervisor, House Supervisor and/or Administrative Nursing Supervisor on duty at the time of incident. Reports all incidents in writing to Site Lead Security Officer and/or Security Supervisor by completing an Incident Report, by the end of the worked shift.* Thoroughly performs interior/exterior building and ground patrols to prevent fire, theft, misuse and vandalism of property. A minimum of three (3) tours/per shifts will be performed daily.

* Thoroughly performs interior/exterior building and ground patrols to inspect doors, windows and locks to determine level of security. A minimum of three (3) tours/per shifts will be performed daily.

* Thoroughly performs a minimum of three (3) tours/per shift in and/or around the Emergency Department; Applicable to affiliates with ED setting.

* Secures or unlocks all facility doors/entrances at specified facility times.

* Courteously question all persons on facility premises after visiting hours, which are not authorized for access. Demonstrates good judgment in routing appropriately, or detaining, all unauthorized persons in accordance with departmental policy.

* Courteously escort visitors, patients and personnel to-and-from facility parking areas in a timely manner.

* All requests for escort services will be responded to within five (5) minutes from the time of request under normal circumstances.

* When an emergency is in effect, response will be as time permits.

* Thoroughly inspects outgoing parcels and equipment, as necessary, to prevent theft of facility and employee property.

* Maintains continuous and courteous radio contact with fellow security officers.

* Reviews daily Pass-Down Log at the start of each worked shift and completes entries accurately.

* Thoroughly inspects all Security Services Department equipment in accordance with departmental policy.

* Demonstrates good judgment and maintains confidentiality while using electronic security equipment (closed-circuit television, radios, alarms, etc.).

* Inspects all elevators and interior fire escape stairwells to ensure that there are no obstructions and these areas are well lit, reporting any identified discrepancies to the Plant Operations and Maintenance Department personnel by the end of the worked shift.

* Understands and demonstrates good judgment while following the proper guidelines for Use of Force.

* Complies with affiliate and Security Services Department policies and procedures.

* Continually uses time to departments best advantage, filling in with additional projects, monitoring video screens, staffing podium entrance booth, parking lot booths, etc.

* Provides assistance and/or information to patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, students and staff in order to maintain their safety, security and good public relations.

* Demonstrates good judgment and responds immediately to all STAT and routine calls.

* Demonstrates good judgment and responds to all fire alarm responses in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Environment of Care Manual (EOC).

* Demonstrates good judgment and responds to all emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients in accordance with the procedures outlined in EOC Manual.

* Demonstrates good judgment and responds to all emergency calls for assistance with potential and/or actual infant or child patient abductions, in accordance with the procedures outlined in the EOC Manual.

* Demonstrates good judgment and responds to all bomb threats or reports of suspicious packages in accordance with the procedures outlined in the EOC Manual.

* Demonstrates good judgment and responds to all evacuation incidents in accordance with the procedures outlined in the EOC Manual.

* Demonstrates good judgment and responds to all chemical spills, for crowd control purposes, in accordance with the procedures outlined in the EOC Manual.

* Demonstrates good judgment, responds to all requests for the physical restraint of patients, and assists medical personnel with the application of restraints, as directed.

* Where procedures have not been established, emergency response tactics will be coordinated in a manner, which enhances officer safety and contains the situation until higher authority can be obtained and provides safety and protection for patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, students and staff.

* Works well with outside law enforcement agencies.

* Performs all other responsibilities as directed.

* Investigation of unusual circumstances are immediately reported to the Site Lead Security Officer, the Operations Supervisor, Manager or Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance, and/or the Security Services Director and documented on a Security Incident Report (IR) prior to the completion of the worked shift using good grammar, spelling and format.

* Completes accurate, clear and legible Security Incident Reports, documenting all steps and results. Only uses objective data and clear, concise language in reports.

* Prepares daily incident, traffic, parking citations, work orders and inspection reports as they pertain to the scope and purposes of safety and security.

* Documents all activities in the Emergency Department (facility with ED setting) on a Security Incident Report that threaten the safety, security, or physical well-being of patients, employees, staff, and visitors prior to the completion of shift.

* Demonstrates ability to interview a wide-variety of individuals in a courteous and unbiased manner.

* Completes assignments as requested. Performance evaluated in terms of accuracy, completion by due date, adherence to instructions and cooperation.

* Provide a security presence within the ED for individuals, hospital personnel, County mental health personnel and the general public.

* Interact compassionately and support these high-risk patients during their time in the ED.

* Security Services staff shall accept those individuals who are already on a 5150 hold from law enforcement officers. They shall work with law enforcement to ensure that the individual is settled into the facility and appears to be relatively stable prior to releasing the law enforcement officer to other duties. The decision to release the officer shall be made by the treating physician, with input from the Security Services staff.

* In the event an individual is brought in by ambulance and is combative, the Security Services staff shall work with the ambulance personnel, in conjunction with hospital Emergency Department staff, to ensure a smooth transfer of the patient.

* Assist to ensure the continued safety of patients, staff and visitors.

* The Security Services staff shall make every effort to ensure the individual does not attempt to harm him/herself or others while in the Emergency Department. The Security Services staff shall primarily use verbal intervention skills to achieve this goal, but may use physical restraint, if necessary. Physical restraint shall be used as a last resort only in conjunction with medical intervention. In addition, the Security Services staff shall work with hospital staff to ensure the physical needs of the individual are met.

* The Security Services staff shall help to ensure that the individual will remain at the facility until such time that mental health personnel and hospital staff have deemed the patient may be safely released. The Security Services staff shall use verbal intervent
