Accounting Assistant III (NE) Accounts Payable Specialist


Job Details

Responsible for weekly processing of all accounts payable including validation and posting accounts payable/ related expenses to the general ledger and subsidiary payable module.Accountable for maintaining Daily Banking activities and identifying any areas/transactions of concern.Responsible for maintaining and reconciling Aging reports to the general ledger.Will be required to perform other duties outside of accounts payable such as account analysis, reconciliations posting and recording of cash receipts, and other accounting duties as necessary.

Essential Functions:

  • Process full cycle accounts payable including reviewing the accuracy of requests and account coding prior to processing invoices, preparing check runs, processing check disbursements, and wire and ach bank transfers.
  • Complete daily required actions for banking transactions such as Positive Pay files and ACH/Wire transactions including research of exceptions when necessary.
  • Maintain, verify, and record credit card activity for the AoB Merchant Account activity.Reconcile the general ledger account for accuracy at every month's end.
  • Maintain Accounts Payable Aging reports and reconcile them to general ledger.
  • Prepare and enter monthly accruals for various banking and expense transactions.
  • Coordinate and record monthly billings from Amex and Office Depot.
  • Respond to Departments/Divisions' questions in relation to coding and processing of expenses.
  • Research and resolve any invoice/vendor-related problems.
  • Vendor management within Great Plains and filing of vendor invoices.
  • Perform various monthly account analyses and reconciliations as assigned
  • Obtain 1099 forms from vendors and process year-end 1099 information.
Position Qualifications:
  • AA in Accounting with 1 to 2 years of experience, or HS Diploma with at least five years of experience;
  • Must have similar experience in a medium- to large-sized organization;
  • Proficiency in data entry, ten key calculator, use of personal computer and spreadsheet applications;
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions;
  • Ability to work independently as well as a contributing member of a team;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact effectively with others.
  • Position requires intermittent sitting, standing, and filing, bending, pushing, and pulling.It requires the ability to move freely throughout the building as well as the ability to regularly lift up to 25 lbs.
