The University of South Alabama's Computer Services Center is seeking to hire a Computer Support Technician II. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.

Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions

  • Answer Computer Center technical support calls and process support requests as needed.
  • Maintain current training with Computer Center Operations staff on the processing of support request calls.
  • Work with Academic Computing to ensure that the CSC Accounting database is properly maintained.
  • Make recommendations for reports and queries as needed.
  • Ensure the database accurately reports requisition and billing data.
  • Determine new database controls and work to implement to ensure the integrity of database information.
  • Provide CSC Accounting database training for new staff to ensure that processes and procedure workflows are properly maintained.
  • Initiate and prepare Computer Center Banner accounting reports. This involves extensive knowledge of Computer Center activities and review of internal reports for proper allocation of shared as well as dedicated resources.
  • Create and process Banner FUPLOADS for Computer Center billing to include campus and Health System charges.
  • Process purchase requests for Computer Services, Telecommunications, Web Services, Information Security and Audio Visual Technologies.
  • Process purchase orders and credit card transactions respectively.
  • Provide supervision to staff assigned to assist with purchases.
  • Establish and supervise procedures to ensure proper ordering, receiving/completion and payment of equipment and services.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Computer Center software, equipment and materials.
  • Organize and maintain CSC subscriptions and contracts for multiple vendors: verify accuracy of subscriptions and contracts; update contracts monthly as required for new software and equipment additions and deletions and verify additional software and equipment is priced correctly as per contract and appropriate discounts are applied; verify software and equipment charges on invoices are correct and work with vendors to resolve discrepancies.
  • Act as liaison between outside vendors (hardware and software) and University departments for problems and new purchases.
  • Ensure compliance with University business policies. Withhold payments when necessary. Match orders and payments back to accounting reports. Ensure proper credits are applied.
  • Ensure vendor disclosure statements are maintained. Onboard new vendors as necessary. Maintain a database of all approved Computer Center vendors and purchasing contacts. Maintain a working understanding of University procurement policies.
  • Prepare invoices for customer billing based on contractual agreements and special services requested by departments. This includes services such as special labels, completed student PC labs and Health System billing.
  • Prepare Concur expense reports. Ensure all transactions are properly documented. Allocate transactions to the appropriate account numbers. Ensure expense reports are submitted to PCard holders in a timely manner for final review and submission.
  • Move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. and assist with moving larger pieces of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot software/hardware computer problems.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
  • Related duties as required.
