Engine Shop Mechanic Helper

Specialty: Balancing Compressors & Turbines

Summary:

The Engine Shop Mechanic Helper is a technician with limited mechanical experience in complete teardown of aircraft turbine engine compressors and turbines for repair/overhaul. The employee is trained to be skillful in removal, testing, repairing or replacement of components as required through an inspection conducted by technical guidelines. Work is performed under the general direction of the Engine Shop Mechanic I, II or III.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in disassembly, complete internal documentation for high-level teardown findings;
  • Aid in assembly and balancing of compressor rotor assemblies and turbine rotors assemblies, aid in assembly of compressor cases and turbine cases;
  • Read, understand and interpret maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, service bulletins and follow technical data to carry out tasks;
  • Provide support to production and other departments as may be requested;
  • Other duties as assigned and requested within the general and technical engineering capacity;
  • Communicate effectively to team members;
  • Detail oriented, able to stay on task, and self-motivated;
  • Be compliant with safety procedures and policies.


Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Some A&P or equivalent experience through a combination of education and experience preferred;
  • 1 year of practical experience with overhaul and repair of turbine engines;
  • J-85 engine is a plus;
  • Proficient with the English language to interpret and follow various technical data.


Salary: $24.26 per hour
