Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist

Location: Harker Heights, TX 76548

Job Type: Permanent

Shift: 36 hours per week (7 p.m.–7 a.m.)


Job Requirements:

Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical or biological science OR Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician studies, or a chemical, physical or biological science associates degree.


Preferred Job Requirements:

ASCP or equivalent. Certification within a specific area, i.e., M (ASCP), H (ASCP), and C (ASCP), qualifies.

Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical technology specialist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory.

Description for Job Board

  • Functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.
  • Performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
  • Promote professionalism and interact with colleagues in a way that promotes a cooperative working environment.
  • Display the technical expertise necessary to ensure timely and accurate results of laboratory procedures.
  • Ensure specimens are obtained and processed in accordance with laboratory guidelines.
  • Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to the appropriate care provider.
  • Support organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Attain the required competency and demonstrate the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols.
  • Exhibit problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and evaluate critical laboratory results.
  • Participate in the training and mentoring of new employees, students, or interns, including lectures and bench techniques.
  • I am able to prioritize and organize my workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity.
  • Demonstrate proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, and proper prompt specimen transport.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.
  • Engage in self-evaluation of practice and take action to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Promote consensus-building, apply techniques of conflict resolution, and conduct improvement.
  • Retain accountability for the quality of care given to the patient.
  • Promote service excellence and the growth of the laboratory.
