Job Details

The Director of Admissions overall responsibility for the clinical supervision, coordination, and management of the Admissions RNs team. Responsible for the daily operations planning and priority setting for patient evaluation, admissions, and oversight, management, and evaluation of staff. Ensures the provision of high-quality hospice care is delivered in an efficient and cost-effective manner while maintaining compliance with the professional standards, hospice standards, federal and state regulations, Joint Commission standards, and the NYS nurse practice acts.



*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*
* Provides supervision, supports professional leadership development, and actively participates in goal setting for Admission RN team.
* Promotes staff engagement through effective communication with the Referral Center, Liaison and Provider Relation teams regarding organizational messaging, quality metrics (e.g. CAHPS), operational processes, and performance improvement opportunities and successes.
* Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with all team members.
* Understands the Hospice Conditions of Participation (COPs) and how they apply to program coordination and ensures that all state and federal regulations and Joint Commission standards are followed.
* Actively participates in nursing leadership meetings and effectively leads division-specific meetings.
* Participates in recruitment, hiring, development, support, retention, and evaluation of assigned department personnel.
* Responsible for ensuring adequate orientation and training for all new staff assigned to the area. Collaborates with the Director of Education and Training regarding establishing a preceptor for each new employee and clearly defining the expectations of the preceptor and the new employee.

*WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:*

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
* Works in assigned settings, patient/family homes and community agencies.
* Moderate to high risk of exposure to unsafe environments.
* Ability to carry up to twenty-five pounds of supplies and/or materials used to provide community education.
* Moderate amount of time sitting and working with a computer screen
* Valid NYS Driver s License

*EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:*
* Current registration as a registered nurse in New York State.
* Certified as a Hospice Palliative Care Nurse or obtain certification after one year of employment.
* BS or BSN (currently attending college to obtain a BSN) or commensurate experience, clinically and/or managerially.
* Minimum of three years of clinical nursing, at least one year of which is medical-surgical nursing.
* Managerial/Leadership experience preferred.
* Oncology, critical care and/or home care experience



*Hours: Variable Schedule - 4 (10hr.) days per week (8:30am-6:30pm)*

*Pay: $115,000-120,000 per year*

*FLSA: Exempt*

Experience:
* Leadership: 3 years (Preferred)
* Nursing: 5 years (Preferred)
