Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Assistant- Decontamination reports to the Sterile Processing Manager and Supervisor. The Sterile Processing Assistant takes direction from the Lead Tech or Department Lead. They willbe responsible for set up of basic surgical instruments, including cleaning, decontamination and inspection. Working in decontamination will require use of full PPE attire at alll times (Personal Protective Equipment) and be responsible for removal of all blood and tissue products from surgical instruments to get instruments prepared for the automatic washer. The Sterile Processing Assistant will also be responsible for operating multiple equipment washers, ultrasonic machines, and cart washer. The Sterile Processing Assistant supports the Sterile Processing Technicians within the department. Additional responsibilities may include: sorting surgical instruments, preparation of surgical trays, placing sterile trays in storage containers and transporting items to the operating room (OR) under supervision of a Lead Technician.

- Prefer ability to function in fast paced, high volume atmosphere and handle multiple tasks.
- Prefer ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and timetables.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to work well with others as part of a team.
Mandatory Education:
HS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate
Work Days/Shift/Start Time:
Must be able to pull and push carts 25-50 pounds, standing for long periods of time, moving surgical instrument trays between 25-50 pounds and working in an environment using various types of chemical agents.
Day shifts 7am-3:30pm, Evening Shifts 3pm-11:30pm and Night Shifts 11p-7:30a are available
