FISH, a program of New Reach, delivers groceries to our homebound neighbors experiencing food insecurity. We are committed to alleviating the physical, emotional, and financial stress caused by hunger. Bi vision is to feed our hungry homebound neighbors one delivery at a time.

Essential Functions:

Pantry Assistant Functions

  • Engages with volunteers by providing instruction and training on their daily assignments
  • Assists with breaking down food pallets, stocking inventory, replenishing items, sorting donations, packing grocery bags, and making grocery deliveries to clients
  • Ensures that clients' grocery delivery orders are fulfilled, meet pantry food safety consumption guidelines, and are adequately staged for distribution
  • Assesses inventory needs and reports them to program management
  • Keeps accurate records for in-kind food donations from food drives and retail providers
  • Weighs in and sorts through in-kind contributions for redistribution
  • Cleans and maintains equipment and storage areas in compliance with safety regulations

Client Intake Functions
  • Facilitate intakes for eligible clients in English and Spanish and inform eligible applicants about alternative food resource options.
  • Enter eligible new clients into Cognito Forms and assign a delivery schedule in coordination with program management.
  • Answer incoming calls and return all messages left by clients, interested applicants, and referral agencies.
  • Fielding client complaints and troubleshooting solutions
  • Cultivate and build relationships with existing and new referring agencies
  • Collaborate with key team members to ensure successful onboarding of new clients, proper maintenance of client database, and that all client communications and correspondence are dealt with promptly
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure successful operations

Qualifications:
  • English and Spanish speaking are required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be suited for warehouse work
  • Ability to work with a group or independently
  • Excellent at multitasking, can prioritize and quickly pivot on tasks
  • To make grocery deliveries, you must have a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation with proof of insurance.

Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The associate must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. The Pantry Assistant is moving and lifting for 75% of their role. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
