Job Title: Retail Door Greeter

Division: Retail Operations

SUMMARY

The Retail Door Greeter represents Goodwill Hawaii at designated store location and is the first person our customer interacts with when coming in to the store so they must greet and welcome all customers entering the Goodwill Hawaii store. Maintains cleanliness of store selling floor and assists customers with questions. Availability to work on the weekends and holidays is an essential function of this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Greets donors in a friendly, courteous and timely manner.
  • Check receipts for all customers leaving the store to ensure all customers are leaving with merchandise they paid for.
  • Be attentive and alert for potential shoplifters or vandals among the shoppers in the store. Alert store management of any incident or potential situations.
  • Serves as company ambassador and explains the Goodwill Mission in the community.
  • Provides general information about Goodwill's Services and Programs and a contact number where additional information can be obtained.
  • Responsible for regular and situational communication with the Retail Store Manager.
  • Adheres to company uniform and appearance standards and maintains a professional image at all times.
  • Performs duties in a safe and responsible manner, complies with safety standards and follows operating procedures when utilizing equipment, tools & machinery.
  • Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Works other areas of the store as requested by the leadership team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience that shows potential to perform the essential duties of this position. Prior customer service experience and or training highly desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak clearly and effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, hear, and talk. The employee must be able to stand/walk for several hours at a time. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, and feel. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and smell. The employee must frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally maneuver wheeled containers weighing up to 300 pounds.

Regular Attendance is a requirement of this position. Core work hours are between Monday-Sunday, 8:00 am-6:30 pm, including holidays, to meet the needs of retail operations. Staff may be scheduled up to 2 hours before store opening and up to 2 hours after store closing to meet business needs. Travel is not required.
