Dietary Service Assistant

Position Summary / Career Interest:
This position is a part-time position that will float between a 5a to 1:30p and other times 11a -7:30p.
The service assistant independently performs dietetic duties including but not limited to: sorting, cleaning and sanitizing dishes and food delivery carts, monitors dish machine temperatures, assembles meal trays, cleans and sanitizes work area, and operates and maintains equipment.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
* Assists supervisor with engaging employees in maintaining cleanliness of food service areas and equipment.
* Trains workers in performance of duties; assigns and coordinates work of employees to promote efficiency of operations.
* Monitors meals to ensure quality and presentation are up to standard.
* Maintains patient diet orders, communicates with nursing staff and dietician on call with any questions or concerns pertaining to diet orders and or changes.
* Takes weekly inventory of foodstuff to ensure proper supply is on hand; also ensures standard of quality is met with foodstuff on hand.
* Adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
* Assists supervisor with inventory and distribution of hospital resources (time, supplies, equipment, etc.)
* Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
* 1 or more years experience as a cook, dietary aide, or food service.
Preferred Education and Experience
* High School Graduate
* 3 or more years related experience
