Position Summary

The Patient Service Representative performs a variety of service functions such as answering the inquiries of patients and visitors; entering information into computer; using telephones, pages, etc.; tracking patient families; relaying information from Pre-op, OR and PACU to patients families; taking patients/families from waiting area to Pre-op; cleaning and organizing lobby area; making coffee for families and transporting patients. Maintaining computer competency and performing clerical/computer duties as requested.

Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities

Performs a variety of service functions such as: checking in patients/visitors, having awareness of which visitor(s) belong to which patients, escorting visitors to conference rooms for update on patient condition by physicians; running errands; answering questions from patients and visitors; entering information into computer; answering telephones, pages, etc.; assisting in record keeping; transporting patients; maintaining a pleasant clean environment in lobby area; providing information on location of restrooms, cafeteria etc.

Promotes customer satisfaction in a consistent manner through positive behaviors when interacting with patients, visitors, and fellow staff members.

Participates in the patient care team concept of Surgical Services to achieve the organization's mission and purpose.

Reports unusual occurrences such as changes in patients conditions or attitudes, also problems or accidents involving visitors, etc.; follows safety measures for patients, with employees, and for self.

Assists with orientation of new employees as requested. Provides emotional/spiritual support to perioperative patient/significant others. Assures privacy, comfort and safety needs of patients are met.

Assembles charts and clerical/computer work as requested.

All other duties not specifically assigned.

Position Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Experience: One (1) to two (2) years in customer service, business, and/or healthcare preferred; Three (3) to Five (5) years of demonstrated experience in field or profession preferred.

Technical Skills: Knowledge of computer operation and skills in both Word and Excel.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: Heart Saver Preferred.

Requirements

Schedule: 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM; Monday - Friday
