This role is not in the Chicago area but is 2-3 hours south and will require relocation for anyone living in Chicago.

Looking for someone with Automotive or hardlines category experience. NO apparel

Retail buyers are the mastermind behind the merchandise you see on store shelves. They play a critical role in a retailer's success by strategically selecting and purchasing products that appeal to customers and drive sales.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct market research to identify customer preferences and buying trends
• Source new products from vendors and manufacturers
• Analyze product quality, price, and profitability
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure the best prices and terms
• Develop and manage product assortments for specific departments or the entire store
• Monitor inventory levels and manage stock flow
• Analyze sales data and buying trends to make informed purchasing decisions
• Create sales forecasts and budgets
• Stay up-to-date on fashion trends, industry news, and competitor offerings
• Manage and maintain positive relationships with vendors

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business, merchandising, fashion design, or a related field (preferred)
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in retail buying or a related field
• Strong understanding of retail operations and merchandising principles
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Analytical mind with a keen eye for detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail buying software (a plus)
