>> Sr. Buyer - Jay Flights Sr. Buyer - Jay Flights Summary Title:Sr. Buyer - Jay FlightsID:111521SBDepartment:PurchasingDivision:JaycoLocation:Middlebury, IN Description **Purpose:** this position exists to source high quality suppliers and supervises Material Management team for assigned product.
**Essential functions**
* Locates suppliers who meet Jaycos engineering and warranty specifications.
* Sets up lines of supply to support new product startups working in conjunction with Line Buyers on initial order quantities and negotiates with suppliers to resolve quality, material and delivery issues.
* Completes item master by researching suppliers who can best deliver parts per Engineering specifications.
* Completes price change notices as material prices fluctuate or when suppliers change.
* Provides material usage forecasts to suppliers and communicates specification changes.
* Authorizes the substitution of parts/materials and/or suppliers (with Engineering approval) to avoid shortages and downtime while working with Operations team to communicate any issues concerning potential and real shortages in order to achieve a high percentage of off-line complete units.
* Negotiates and issues purchase orders for tooling commitments.
* Serve as key member of Product Development Team working in conjunction with Senior Product Director & New Product Development Engineering staff to research, cost, test, procure new products and ideas.
* Supervises, manages, mentors, directs the selection, training, development, appraisal and work assignments of others.
**Additional functions**
* Assists in resolving invoicing discrepancies.
* Maintains accurate records of all correspondence, agreements and/or commitments between Jayco and its suppliers.
**Experience / Knowledge**
* Requires 7-10 years of related experience including knowledge of RV supplier network, RV components and their application.
* Requires knowledge of company products, manufacturing processes and closed-loop MRP II systems (including material and capacity planning, purchasing, inventory control and cycle counting.
* College education and APICS certification is desirable.

* Critical thinking ability, problem solving sensitivity and inductive reasoning skills are needed.
* Requires ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions along with ability to interpret technical information.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills are required with demonstrated ability to communicate technical information on behalf of Jayco, Inc.
* Requires negotiation skills and ability to overcome resistance to change.
* Must display professionalism in all interactions and the ability to maintain a positive attitude through periods of adversity and disagreement.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects efficiently.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including AX.
**Work Requirements**
This position may require sitting, standing, working in front of a computer monitor in an office setting approximately 75% of the day and occasionally, working in a hot, humid manufacturing environment.
Requires ability to travel between field locations.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to frequently lift and move up to ten pounds.
Must comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
This position is a full-time position, which may require some flexibility in hours and days worked.
