Job Summary:

American Art Clay Company (AMACO) was founded in 1919 by Ted O. Philpott. AMACO is known for being the first to commercially manufacture ceramic and non-ceramic clays, lead-free glazes, electric kilns and potters wheels. AMACO is a founding member of the Arts and Creative Materials Institute, which established safety standards for childrens art materials in 1936. Today AMACO continues to manufacture ceramic supplies with the highest standards of quality and safety.

We are looking for a Dock Worker that will be a part of the continuous improvement of AMACO.

Responsibilities:

* Stage and sort products for loading and unloading trailers

* Maintain a clean and safe work area

* Pulling of manual dock chain

* Carefully stack cardboard boxes and pallets

* Move materials within in the warehouse (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling)

* Electronically scan products using a warehouse management system (NAV)

* Work with quality control

* Complete daily logs

* Assemble customer orders from stock and place order on pallets, shelves, or convey orders to packing station or shipping department

* Weigh or count items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards

* Must maintain inventory records

* Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and a variety of warehouse mechanical equipment (where applicable)

* Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Skills:

* Regularly move and/or lift up to 50 lbs., occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs.

* Ability to read, understand, and comply with pick tickets and processing work instructions.

* Basic computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)

* Must demonstrate the ability to safely and effectively operate fork lifts

* Must work be able to work in hot and cold environments

Work Environment:

The individual working in this position must be able to work in both hot and cold environments. Standing for long periods of time may be required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40+ hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:

Light travel may be expected for this position.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma, or equivalent is required

Prior Forklift certification preferred
