Duties: As a Revenue Agent, you will use your accounting skills to plan and conduct examinations of individuals and businesses to determine Federal tax liability. These examinations are generally conducted at the taxpayer s residence and/or place of business or in a centralized office setting, where you will work with taxpayers, their representatives, certified public accountants, and tax attorneys. Your duties will vary based on the area you are assigned and will cover a broad range of tax and business issues. Our Revenue Agents focus on specific tax matters for individuals and small, large, and international businesses. You will be working to help fund the Nation Qualifications: All Revenue Agent candidates must meet the following basic requirements to qualify for an entry-level position: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate, or Bachelor s or higher degree in accounting, or Bachelor s or higher degree in another field other than accounting or a combination of education and experience that included at least 30 semester hours in accounting or 24 semester hours in accounting and six semester hours in a related subject. Additionally, specialized accounting-related experience may qualify you for a higher-graded position.
