While reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the material handler will be reasonable to move, load and unload materials by means of operating a fork truck within or near the plant, yard, or work site. Move finished goods between areas; following routing, delivery tickets, or orders. This position will additionally be responsible for all blending room activities, as needed. Must meet position qualifications. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment. You must have the ability to work with various teams. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail.

Day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Complies with all company policies and procedures, including all safety policies and procedures.

2. Facilitate the development of a safe workplace for all employees

3. Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections

4. Assists with the operation of industrial truck to include loading or moving materials and products

5. Loads, unloads, stages, and organizes materials and supplies, including all corrugate.

6. Assists with the unloading/loading of trucks when necessary.

7. Sweep trailers when necessary to meet GMP standards.

8. Follows written and/or oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.

9. Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.

10. Counts, transfers, and records number of units of material/finished goods moved or handled by use of scanner gun.

11. Opens containers. Transfers materials from Raw to WIP.

12. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, gaylords, or other containers.

13. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against Bills of Lading, Invoices, Purchase orders, or other records.

14. Stacks or assembles reusable corrugated materials into bundles by use of baler.

15. Helps train new employees when necessary.

16. Follows housekeeping policy and signs off on Master Cleaning Schedule.

17. Completes and submits all necessary forms to Production Supervisor.

18. Segregates weigh scrap and dumps trash in appropriate container.

19. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, gaylords, or other containers.

20. Provides assistance on the production floor for training of Back-Up Material Handlers.

21. Performs Blending Room Material Handler duties as needed:

a. Weighs and tracks all regrind and submits completed forms to Production Supervisor.

b. Transports regrind and/or empty gaylords from warehouse as needed.

c. Organizes weighed and tagged gaylords in warehouse.

d. Moves webbing and/or stacks of sheet to grinder(s) as needed.

e. Monitors regrind in silos, dumps as needed

f. Notifies Process and/or Maintenance regarding blending alarms.

g. Sweeps blending room and cleans top of vacuum loader/hopper, dumps fines under Sweeco and under mezzanines from feed vacuum venturi, and empties containers from mezzanine funnel shoot.

h. Acquires and dumps additives /concentrates at silos.

i. Loads additive hopper next to lines as directed.

j. Dumps (empties) in the appropriate locations.

22. Other duties as requested by Warehouse Manager.

Material Handler l has very raw skill sets and needs to increase their experience by being a backup material handler or substitute.

This position is in our Plastics plant in beautiful Waynesville, NC where we produce plastic thermoformed trays.

Minimum 6 months related experience and/or training.

Current license as fork-truck operator

To succeed in this role, you will need the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers.

Ability to apply critical thinking skills and to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
