CEPEDA Associates, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company located in Louisville, KY specializing in providing service and equipment to the U.S. Navy. CEPEDA is ISO 9001:2008 compliant and fully qualified to manufacture and test Level I/SUBSAFE equipment. For more than 30 years, CEPEDA has manufactured, serviced, and upgraded life support equipment and other complex mechanical components for the U.S. Navy s submarine fleet. CEPEDA s equipment is responsible for removing atmospheric contaminants such as carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen (H2), and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Plus, CEPEDA has nearly 20 years experience with equipment in high-pressure applications. Aside from our normal stable of equipment, CEPEDA offers build-to-print manufacturing for numerous other mechanical applications.

The position of Mechanical Assembler/Mechanic is to support the production manager by fabricating, assembling, and insulating machinery by using a variety of tools and equipment according to a required specification. This position may require travel and service work to be performed at Navy facilities around the United States.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Fabricate components using tools including plate rollers, grinders, drill presses, and press brakes. Experience on each of these tools is not required to start.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, charts, diagrams.
  • Use hoists, drills, hand tools, holding devices, cutters, power tools
  • Perform inspections including pressure and flow tests
  • Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures
  • Optional: perform installation and maintenance work onboard Navy ships at locations around the United States.
  • Considerable knowledge of tools, materials, and methods
  • Ability to work from drawings and manuals
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem
  • Ability to get along with other employees and work well as an individual or on a team
  • High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
  • Mechanical experience preferred

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 lbs., work in cramped positions at times, wear required protective clothing and equipment. Frequent overtime available. Flexible schedule.
