POSITION SUMMARY

Wastewater Specialist works as a part of a team to maintain quality of effluent from the wastewater treatment plant, monitor wastewater treatment processes, and treat and handle hazardous materials. The Wastewater Specialist's assigned team will be the Wastewater Department.

POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Maintain quality of effluent from wastewater treatment plant
  • Monitor wastewater treatment processes
  • Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping operations on treatment plant
  • Treat and handle hazardous materials
  • Keep accurate records of operations
  • Comply with safety, quality, productivity, and governmental requirements and procedures
  • Regular/dependable attendance required
  • Flexibility of work hours including overtime
  • Use of hand tools and machinery is required
  • Must be able to work well with little or no supervision
  • Participates in WWS's Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team's performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; 0-1 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous Wastewater experience preferred, must be willing to obtain a wastewater license. Experienced fork-lift operator with a valid license or ability to obtain one.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to rotate to other positions as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock, vibration, and seasonal high/low temperatures and humidity. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, requiring hearing protection. Must be willing and able to comply with all plant safety regulations including wearing appropriate PPE when on the production floor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to stand, reach, bend, talk, hear and move about the facility. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 52 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must occasionally push up to 45 pounds and pull up to 42 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
