DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONS ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Superintendent, supervise union personnel on rotating shifts while ensuring that the maintenance of the Rosebud Mine equipment complies with authorized practices and procedures, and maintenance requirements are accomplished in a safe and efficient manner. The Shop Supervisor will administer an effective safety program conducting safety meetings as required. Monitor and inspect work areas to assure area is safe and in compliance with all MSHA and company safety rules and regulations, correcting all unsafe conditions. Responsible to coordinate maintenance activities with production operations ensuring that adequate scheduling needs for parts, materials and manpower to effectuate timely repair has been met.

The Supervisor will supervise all personnel assigned to them on shift, including assignment of duties, evaluation of performance, training and recommendation for training. Administer activities to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and union bargaining unit agreement. Additionally, the Supervisor will coordinate and direct work activities to effectively implement maintenance plans, ensuring safe work behaviors and practices. Maintain maintenance records and ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance and repair of mine equipment in order to maximize equipment availability. Analyze operational/maintenance requirements and adjust priorities as required. Communicate status of work activities as need with department manager or other departments. Prepare or review reports as required to evaluate and document activities. The supervisor will actively participate in the continuous improvement program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Five years experience in mining or a related industry or a college degree in Civil, Mechanical or Mining Engineering. Previous experience in supervising and directing the work of others. Demonstrated knowledge of operation and maintenance functions. Demonstrates working knowledge of computer applications, specifically JDE or other maintenance management software and Microsoft standard office programs. Demonstrates knowledge of environmental and safety regulations. Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with other supervisors, professionals, representatives and departmental staff from within and outside the company. Successful candidate will be required to obtain a State of Montana Mine Foreman Certificate. Successful candidate must have a valid drivers license.
