The Scandinavian Living Center (SLC) is looking for part-time and full-time residential care associates / CNAs for all shifts. To be eligible for this job, the candidate must have a MA State Certification Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) certification. High school graduate desired. Must be flexible.

Summary Of Responsibilities

  • Assist people who are functionally, physically, and/or socially impaired and need 24-hour oversight. Must assist residents with activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without help, fostering at all times residents independence
  • Provide assistance with dressing, bathing, personal hygiene (shaving, dental hygiene, nail care, hair care, foot care), Mobility devices (cane, walker, wheelchair, crutches) including monitoring of safe transfer and ambulation techniques, Care of ADL devices such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, hearing aids
  • Assists residents with self-administration of medications, including monitoring of medication supplies and documentation
  • Observes and reports changes in residents physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to Wellness Director
  • Responds to emergency response system alarms
  • Monitors for environmental safety hazards
  • Records incidents, errors, or accidents
  • Reports resident/staff incidents and errors to Wellness Director
  • Records resident and resident-related events
  • Assists in a variety of tasks related to dining (escort residents to dining room, serve meals)
  • Participates in and supports resident activity programs
  • Responds and acts appropriately in emergency or disaster situations
  • As applicable, fulfills ongoing certified nursing assistant registration requirements and maintains related documentation
  • Fulfills all in-service education and training requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working as a CNA/HHA
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to think, act, and intervene independently in both routine and emergency situations
  • Must be self-motivated and function as an in charge person.
  • Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and participate in holiday activities
  • CNA license or HHA license
  • The ideal candidate will live within 10 miles of Newton, MA
