Overview
Assist Media Productions in leading the creation of video-based programming to support the Zoo's mission and education-focused initiatives.
The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is looking for an experienced, motivated media productions professional to support the creation of educational content supporting the Columbus Zoo's mission: Empowering People. Saving Wildlife.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities:
* Assist in the development of video programming highlighting topics and programming as outlined by the Columbus Zoo's Education team.
* Edit finished programming of these topics under the guidance of the Zoo's Media Productions and Education teams.
* Assist in the creation of additional video elements to support programming as assigned by Media Productions.
Secondary responsibilities (but not limited to):
* Documentation of additional Education programming (Zoo Camp, Homeschool, Zoo Aids, Volunteers, educational events, etc.) for promotional needs.
* Creation of additional media as assigned by the Media Production Team (b-roll comps, social media content, etc.) to support the Zoo's Communications team.
* Coverage of Columbus Zoo Family of Parks events and occasions as needed.
* Assist in the digitization and archiving of the Zoo's historical media.
Please note: This position's primary focus will be the creation of content in support of the Zoo's educational programming. Animal documentation will be done on an as-needed basis with other Media Productions team members.
Qualifications
* An associate's degree, or equivalent in communications, photography/videography or related program is preferred.
* 3.0 or above accumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
* Advanced knowledge in video editing - specifically Adobe Premiere Pro.
* Solid understanding of video creation (video camera, sound gear, lighting, etc.).
* Solid understanding of photo creation (still camera, flash, etc.).
* Understanding of lighting, color, exposure, composition, and visual storytelling.
* Ability to work on a PC and MAC.
* Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
* Must possess the ability to research and communicate information effectively and accurately. A team player
* A team player must possess courteous and professional interpersonal skills.
* Ability to adhere to standard operating procedures, including (but not limited to) safety protocols.
* Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills.

Physical Demands
* Required to walk, sit and stand for periods of time.
* Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
* Bend, stoop, kneel, and move intermittently throughout the day.
* Exposure to extreme weather conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, snow and ice.
