Summary:
The Power BI Developer is responsible for the development and administration of BI tools aligned with SCA's strategic improvement priorities and is required to have complete knowledge of the BI system. The main duty of a Power BI developer is to convert raw data into meaningful insights through interactive and easy-to-understand dashboards and reports. The Power BI Developer will also be a key member of the data governance committee and will operate in either EST or CST timezones.
Essential functions:
- Recognize business requirements in the context of BI and create data models to transform raw data into relevant insights driving continuous improvement
- Define relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) with targets and actuals
- Develop and deploy dashboards, KPI score cards and interactive visual reports.
- Convert business needs into technical specifications, define deliverables, prioritize with stakeholders, establish a timetable for job completion, and deliver on schedule.
- Create relationships between data, developing tabular and other multidimensional data models
- Chart creation and data relationships detailing algorithms, parameters, models, and source
- Create, test, and deploy Power BI scripts, as well as execute efficient deep analysis
- Create, test and deploy Power BI Deployment pipelines
- Create and manage data models within Power BI connecting to various data sources
- Use Power BI to run DAX queries and functions
- Ability to work with data warehouses and data engineers
- Use SQL queries to get the best results
- Analyze current ETL procedures to define and create new systems
- Redefine and make technical/strategic changes to enhance existing Business Intelligence systems performance, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- Work with users and team members at all levels for performance improvement and suggestions
- Interface with business data analysts and citizen developers
- Coach and mentor junior Power BI Developers
Requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience:- BS in computer science, business analytics, economics, or finance
- 5+ years of experience with an enterprise Power BI implementation
- Experience in data preparation, data gateway and data warehousing projects.
- Experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack having Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS.
- Demonstrated passion for data and visualization
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Ability to understand business requirements and develop corresponding data models.
- Excellent analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports.
- Adept in developing, publishing, and scheduling Power BI reports as per the business requirements.
- Able to integrate Power BI reports into other applications using embedded analytics like Power BI service (SaaS), or by API automation.
- Knowledge of Power BI application security layer models
- Proficient in doing advanced-level computations on the data set
- Strong problem solving, analytics and research capabilities and ability to handle changing priorities, deal with ambiguity and use good judgment in stressful situations
