Description

SUMMARY: The Production Coordinator directs and coordinates activities of the production departments in safety, materials management, productivity management, scheduling, preventive maintenance, and human resources. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish yourself as the leader of the production crew and communicate your role to the employees
  • Ensure that the production crew is efficiently producing top quality products safely in accordance with all policies and procedures
  • Follow production schedules to meet customer needs or the needs of other departments
  • Review work orders and ensure all required equipment is available and operational prior to starting a new job and ensure all production materials are on hand
  • Check quality of units being produced in their department and take immediate remedial action to correct any quality problems
  • Coordinates, organizes, and directs the activities of the production line and team
  • Instruct the team in proper work methods and standards; monitor work quality; insure adherence to time schedules and safe work practices
  • Provide performance feedback to the Production Manager
  • Provide training and technical assistance in specific areas of operation, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency and customer specifications
  • Operate all necessary equipment in production departments in accordance with operation training and safety procedures
  • Follow Company personnel and product safety requirements including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMPs
  • Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with State and Federal laws
  • Under the direct leadership of the Production Manager, assign daily tasks in accordance with project specifications
  • Ensure that all required paperwork is completed in an accurate, timely fashion
  • Communicate daily progress reports to Production Manager
  • Be the point of contact in the absence of the Production Manager. Compile detailed notes to report
SAFETY
  • Responsible for monitoring and counseling employees to assure safe work practices
  • When an accident occurs, the Production Leader is responsible for the timely and
accurate completion and distribution of the Accident Investigation Report. This includes counseling of employee and the identification and follow through on any corrective action
  • Responsible for all Lockout/Tagout, Right-to-Know and Emergency Evacuation Training
  • Follow Company personnel and product safety requirements including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMPs. This includes the effective maintenance and enforcement of the requirements contained in the SQF Food Safety Management system
  • Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance
with State and Federal laws

MATERIALS MANAGEMENT
  • Responsible for the production of a quality product, free of defects within specified limits
  • Responsible for monitoring and tracking spoilage to ensure levels do not exceed Company
specified allowance
  • Responsible for reviewing and evaluating questionable materials to determine disposition
  • Responsible for having all materials at the line for start-up and back-up, as well as lined up for the next job to reduce down time
PRODUCTIVITY
  • Responsible for ensuring that established requirements of maximum efficiencies are
realized on all production equipment in the area of responsibility
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping of equipment production rates to ensure problem
solving actions are taken before critical situations arise
  • Responsible for the efficient utilization of direct and indirect labor costs
  • Responsible for the direct coordination with other departments to ensure all necessary

materials, including secondary production capabilities (back-up), are available and in

working order to facilitate production

SCHEDULING
  • Respond to and manage resources as directed by Production Scheduling to satisfy production and customer needs
  • Coordinate and/or schedule production staffing according to department capacity and line load for maximum efficiencies
  • Inform and train department personnel to respond to frequent schedule changes as dictated by business and customer needs
  • Schedule operators and mechanical support for designated equipment to meet production schedules
  • Coordinate with other departments to verify parts availability and shipping requirements
  • Maintain constant communication with necessary plant management staff concerning status of equipment and personnel
  • Ensure all scheduled equipment is in working order to maintain efficient production schedule

  • Must be competent with standard quality control testing equipment and basic computer skills


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and write in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, rates and percentage.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid state level driver's license, which meets Company requirements of the Fleet Management Policy and insurance requirements.
