POSITION TITLE: Evening Recreation Assistant
FULL/PART TIME: Part-Time
DEPARTMENT: Office of Student Life
REPORTS TO: District Dean of Student Services
GENERAL SUMMARY: Provide guidance and direction for all programs intended to engage students in the campus community including campus activities, clubs and organizations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Work to create and maintain a healthy environment for the engagement of and academic & personal growth of students.
* Serve as the Part-time Assistant to the Coordinator of Student Life and Recreation/Intramurals Manager; duties to include but not limited to:
* Advise the campus activities board
* Ensure engaging events and activities take place on campus each week the college is in session
* Help student staff devise interesting, innovative, creative student activity programs that promote fun as well as personal & educational development.
* Promote & develop activities that celebrate diversity and inclusion
* Coordinate and supervise campus activities programming
* Coordinate student organization registration and officer leadership training
* Develop & coordinate club/organization advisor training
* Track & assess student involvement to determine needs for program changes, etc.
* Create a robust intramurals program and assist with set up and clean-up of events, etc.
* Assist with student attendance and tracking of usage of McClendon facilities by students.
* Know, implement, and enforce college policies; immediately report emergency incidents and incidents of assault, harassment or intimidation to the Housing and Residence Life and/or District Dean of Student Services.
* Supervise student staff members in the performance of their duties.
* Serve on College committees as needed.
* Perform other duties as assigned which may be incidental or necessary to the function of the Office of Student Life.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* High School Diploma required, Associate's degree preferred.
* Demonstrated effective communication skills & ability to solve problems and work effectively with diverse individuals.
* Patience and high level of energy.
* Ability to organize and coordinate people, activities, and events.
* Previous residence life staff experience highly desirable.
* Previous experience as an active member/officer of a student engagement, and/or student orientation committee highly desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Frequent night and weekend hours
* Lift up to 30 pounds
* Climb stairs
* Negotiate narrow or crowded corridors/aisles
