* Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
* Position is responsible for transporting patients in all departments of the hospital, assisting with patient care and procedures.

* Qualifications
* Education
* High School Diploma or GED required.
* Licensure/Certification
* Required: American Heart Association BLS
* Experience
* Preferred: Some hospital and / or patient care experience. Basic computer skills
* Essential Responsibilities
* Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and reports suspected violations
* Demonstrates knowledge of hospital approved patient identifications procedures.
* Communicates pertinent information and unfinished tasks to co-workers prior to breaks, lunches and end of shift to ensure continuity of workflow.
* Provides safe and efficient transfer of patients.
* Provides safe patient environment at all times:
* Stays with patient, who may be in danger of falling and hurting themselves
* Correctly identifies patient by use of armband.
* Transports patients in a safe / comfortable manner to and from Department / Floors when necessary, reporting any changes that may occur during transport. (SBAR)
* Assists Technologists/Nursing staff with patient procedures as assigned.
* Assists Nursing staff/Technologists with moving patients when necessary.
* Transports deceased patients to the morgue.
* Responds and assists to Code Blue.
* Notifies patients RN prior to transport and upon return.
* Obtains copy of E.D. orders for Tech's prior to exam when applicable.
* Notifies Nurse if patient needs taken off or put on monitor during E.D. transport
* Operates patient support equipment, such as: oxygen tanks(E tanks), Hovermats, and ergo-slide.
* Maintains sanitizing gurneys and keeping them stocked.
* Helps with Lab specimens when needed. Routinely transports specimens from surgery to Lab.
* Escorts visitors, patient's families to waiting areas, cafeteria, and etc.
* Performs dispatch duties as needed.
* Stocks O2 / E tanks throughout the hospital.
* Demonstrates good body mechanics moving, lifting and transporting patients.
* Provides patient observation at the discretion of a nurse and communicates observations of patient condition changes to nurse.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
