EPCO Products, a world recognized manufacturer of products for the fluid power and marine industries, is hiring a Purchasing Manager / Buyer in Fort Wayne, Indiana
OPPORTUNITY:
As our Buyer, you will manage the administrative functions of material purchasing. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, you will communicate frequently with vendors and work interchangeably with the President, Accounting Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Sales Manager, and other members of the team. Use your critical thinking mindset and adherence to processes and procedures to manage the acquisition and timely supply of goods and services. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Plan and direct all Purchasing Department functions.
- Manage the acquisition of goods and services for EPCO products.
- Prepare and evaluate requests for the purchase of materials, equipment and service of equipment.
- Establish, implement and review policies and procedures and train internal staff such as EPCO s established ISO 9001:2015 Quality Program.
- Provide cost and vendor analysis for goods and services.
- Oversee expediting procedures, monitor supplier performance, resolve supplier delinquencies and develop new sources of supply and service.
- Provide supplier documentation and justification for purchases.
- Operate, train, and monitor all computerized purchasing programs.
- Direct and verify cycle counts, inventory control, and scheduled inventories.
- Work within the existing Kan Ban / Pull Method of Manufacturing techniques to insure proper inventory levels and elimination of obsolete items.
- Establish, maintain and monitor Buyer performance metrics such as inventory turns, material cost history, material availability and vendor quality issues.
- Maintain the Material / Finishing Certifications computer records.
- Attend daily production meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
SUCCESS FACTORS:
- 4+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Critical thinker with the ability to organize tasks, records, and schedules effectively.
- Superior attention to detail with a focus on high quality of service and product.
- Experience operating within an ISO Registered Program. (EPCO is an ISO 9001:2015 registered company and was first registered in 2002.)
- Experience with computer purchasing / inventory systems.
- Coachable with openness to learn and master our system before recommending improvements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Solid understanding of the Pull Method of Manufacturing (Kanban).
- Excels in a team-oriented, fast paced environment with a positive, results-oriented approach.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
EPCO will reward your purchasing expertise with a compensation of $70K $75K based on your experience and proven successful accomplishments. You will receive a very competitive health insurance package. EPCO provides up to a 4% match with its 100% vested 401(k)program. Vacation, holiday pay and tuition reimbursement are also provided. Participate in EPCO s Gainsharing Bonus plan that affords opportunities to earn unlimited percentage gainsharing bonus every four weeks.
