Job Description
Develop understanding of safety requirements to work in large machine
shop environment.
Obtain exposure and involvement with tasks required for the machinist
position.
Learn how to operate machines, use hand tools and inspection gages
Qualifications
Follows safety rules and requirements
Accountable to follow instructions of Machine Shop personnel
Demonstrate correct operation of machinery and hand tools
Technical Skills - Knowledge of machining processes and procedures.
General understanding of inspection equipment, tooling, metal
processing, and shop safety
Language Skills - Ability to read, and interpret blue prints including
dimensional and finish symbols. Ability to effectively present inquiries
and respond to questions from engineers, machinists, and others
Mathematical - Ability to understand and calculate dimensional and
quantity figures in both fractions and decimals. Along with ability to apply
concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Reasoning - Ability to interpret work instructions and procedures. Identify
problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Computer - Competent in clocking in and off of work routing
Physical - must occasionally list and/or move up to 40 pounds
Work Environment - comfortable working in loud environment. Required
personal protective equipment worn including safety glasses, steel-toed
shoes, and ear protection
Education:
Enrollment in the York County School of Technology (YCST) 4 year preemployment
Machining program. Individual shall be in the 3rd or 4th year of the
program
