Schroeder Design Build is seeking a Lead Designer/Lead Architect. In this role, you are pivotal in team collaboration and responsible for completing tasks in a timely manner, as needed for the various phases of design. This position will work closely with both the Design and Sales teams to move clients through the design process and into construction. Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of residential construction methods and materials; advanced level Revit modeling and advanced level drafting skills. A DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Assist with site and space planning for construction project managers
  • Research building codes, local zoning, and business park covenants
  • Prepare presentation drawings, diagrams, and renderings to clearly convey design ideas
  • Review project scope with construction project managers
  • Produce architectural documents for permit submittal and construction
  • Review and coordinate construction documents with construction project managers and consultants
  • Develop preliminary designs into construction documents

Key Responsibilities:

- Meeting with clients on site to analyze & discuss potential projects

- Taking field measurements and photographs of existing conditions

- Drafting & development of existing, demolition, and proposed floor plans using the REVIT design software

- Schematic design & design development for residential remodeling construction projects

- Assistance of in-person and virtual client meetings

- Building and zoning code analysis and Research

- Drafting & resign of exterior and interior elevations

- Detailing & design of building sections & details for construction

- Drafting and design for structural and MEP systems

- Updating drawings from redlines provided by Director of Design's review



What you should have as a Lead Designer/Lead Architect:

  • Degree in Architecture from an Accredited University, Master s Degree Preferred
  • Registered Architect
  • Eight (8) plus years of experience
  • Residential Experience a plus
  • Proficiency in the International Residential Building Codes and building material sciences
  • Software: Microsoft Office and Revit

Preferred Soft Skills and Personality Traits of Lead Designer/Lead Architect

o Residential architectural design experience (drafting, specifications, finish selections) 5+ years minimum

o Working experience with REVIT (preferred), AutoCad and/or Chief Architect

o Solution oriented creative problem solver able to identify opportunities, vet options, gain team and client consensus, and bring items to closure

o Provide great client service - active listener to understand client needs and preferences to deliver results

o A strong design sense - practical solutions that are interesting, beautiful, and functional

o Ability to think outside the box but also have an attention to detail

o Able to plan and organize work independently

o Product selection experience ability to research and recommend products to meet unique project design solutions in coordination with construction applications

o Effective communication; Written and Verbal
