The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Physician position. This position is based out of Stanley Correctional Institution (Stanley, Chippewa County) .

Position Summary

The Institution Physician is responsible for providing professional Primary Care medical services to persons in our care. The Primary Care Physician diagnoses and treats illness and injuries, and arranges for professional consultation when warranted.

The Primary Care Physician develops individual plans of care for patients, performs both chronic and acute care visits, and assists with medical emergencies. This position participates in multidisciplinary care team meetings, and also has the opportunity to participate in quality improvement initiatives. This position also participates in the day and evening on-call rotation.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 10-51 with pay starting from $97.01/hour to $118.78/hour or $201,780 to $247,062/year.

Board Certified Physicians may earn supplemental pay of up to $21.00/hr (for maximum effective salary of $290,742/year), while those that are eligible but not yet certified may earn up to $7.00/hr (for maximum effective salary of $261,622/year), depending on the area of certification/eligibility.

Pay rates on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code.

A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Remote work options not available for these positions.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT - Applicants must:
  • Possess a current, unrestricted/unlimited license to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin
  • Possess a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number
  • Have education or training in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another area of primary care .
