Job Duties

The Companion - Personal Care Attendant offers assistance with activities of daily living as well as non-clinical assistance, companionship and support to residents and clients with one on one care. Companions provide generalized attention to the needs of residents and clientsand are responsible for ensuring a safe, clean environment and observing any changes that should be reported. Assists residents and clients with getting to appointments and running errands.

The ideal candidate for this position has a high school diploma/GED and has one to two years of experience as a personal care assistant, sitter, or personal companion. Experience and training as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) a plus. In addition, he or she has a genuine desire to work with and experience working with the senior population. First Aid/CPR Certification is required (or must have ability to complete these requirements within a specified time period). Effective oral and written skills, empathy and the ability to listen. Represents the company in a professional manner and uses good judgement.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 1-2 years experience as a personal care assistant, sitter or personal companion
  • First Aid/CPR Certification & Safe Driving Course (must have ability to complete prior to or within specified time period)
  • Must be at least 18 years old and Companions that drive must be 21 years of age and can provide proof of state minimum auto insurance
  • Comfort level with accessing basic computer applications or willingness and ability to learn in order to access work schedules


Physical Requirements:may include walking for extended periods, bending & stooping,lifting and assisting residents with mobility (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.)
