Selby Jennings is partnering with a bespoke Investment Banking Boutique focused on downstream Energy seeking an Investment Banking Analyst to join their dynamic team.
A successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the execution of financial transactions, conducting industry research, and providing analytical support to senior bankers. This position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development within a fast-paced and challenging environment. Ideal candidates are current or recent Investment Banking Analysts, in addition to Transaction Advisory Services/Valuations Backgrounds with prior experience in Downstream Energy or Real Estate preferred, but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain complex financial models for valuation, M&A, and other corporate finance activities.
- Conduct comprehensive financial statement analysis, including ratio analysis, trend analysis, and financial forecasting.
- Perform in-depth research and analysis on the downstream energy sector, including market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory environment.
- Prepare detailed industry reports and presentations for internal and client use.
- Assist in the execution of M&A, capital raising, and other financial transactions.
- Prepare pitch books, investment memoranda, and other transaction-related documentation.
- Coordinate with legal, compliance, and other departments to ensure smooth transaction execution.
- Support senior bankers in client meetings and presentations.
- Prepare client-ready materials and ensure all deliverables meet the highest quality standards.
- Work closely with team members across different functions and geographies to deliver comprehensive solutions to clients.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts and interns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, CFA) is a plus.
- 1-3 years of experience in investment banking, financial analysis, or a related field, preferably with a focus on the energy sector.
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude.
