Formulation Scientist / R&D Manager
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with various departments such as operations, quality, and sourcing to ensure new product innovations are aligned and feasible, optimizing design within set launch timelines.
- Coordinate with the Director of R&D to prioritize tasks based on business needs and launch priorities.
- Transfer technical knowledge to the manufacturing team and lead the scale-up process for products efficiently.
- Work with external partners including vendors, suppliers, and co-packers, managing the formulation process and providing guidance to contract fillers and third-party testing labs.
- Monitor project milestones and promptly communicate any risks to the Technical Project Manager.
- Work with the operations team to manage weekly workload and sample shipments according to launch priorities.
- Address and resolve formula and equipment issues in a production setting, providing effective solutions for both new and existing products.
- Oversee the transfer of experimental batches from R&D to production scale-up for various product formats such as tablets, topicals, gummies, and new forms.
- Develop detailed processing instructions for compounding processes like weighing, mixing, blending, tableting, and pressing.
- Stay informed on industry developments by attending relevant conferences and tradeshows, showcasing technical expertise in non-sterile pharmaceutical compounding.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to provide input on new equipment purchases.
- Travel as needed to support pilots and cross-train with other R&D team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Chemistry, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Cosmetic Chemistry, or related areas.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in an R&D setting, with experience in scaling up solid dosage and liquid pharmaceutical products.
