Job Details

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Handling of bodily fluids including blood, urine, feces, etc.

*Data entry including organizing of patient requisitions, accessioning samples into the laboratory information system and double-checking work for accuracy.

*Basic computer knowledge and some data entry experience is a requirement.

*Understand technical and non-technical procedures required to process and forward accessioned specimens to the designated laboratory location for testing.

*Maintain processing refrigerator and freezer temperature logs.

*Maintain processing centrifuges and logs.

*Responsible for checking-in all Couriers and receiving samples.

*Assist Phlebotomists with labeling of samples if needed.

*Must be able to adjust to increased workloads.

*Must be able to periodically lift or move biohazard waste bins which could weigh more than 20 lbs.

*Able to locate and pull specimens from refrigerated storage as needed or requested.

* Learns and keeps familiar with lab procedures and policies.

*Other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Above average communication skills in English especially via telephone

MATH SKILLS:
  • Basic Math skills

COMPUTER SKILLS:
  • Basic Microsoft Products, Data Entry, Internet
  • Ability to use and learn proprietary software systems

Education and Experience: Minimum requirements for education and experience for this position
  • High School or Equivalent (GED)
  • 1 to 2 years of experience
