Position Summary: Vice President of YMCA Camping Services

Join the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth as the Vice President of YMCA Camping Services and take the helm at the illustrious 300-acre YMCA Camp Carter, conveniently located just 30 minutes from DFW Airport and nestled in the vibrant City of Fort Worth. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with the Chief Resource & Risk Officer, the President & CEO, and various Executive Directors across the association to sharpen our strategy and vision, driving key goals in fundraising and program development.

Your leadership will be instrumental in guiding the camping team, fostering team development, and ensuring the highest levels of camper satisfaction. As a key partner of the YMCA Leadership Team, the Board of Directors, and the local community, you will enhance our brand's presence and establish Camp Carter as a leader in the camping industry. You will work alongside the marketing team to amplify our brand's impact and align our initiatives with the broader organizational goals.

Your responsibilities will include spearheading innovative camping and Equity in the Outdoors initiatives, managing compliance with American Camping Association Accreditation, and overseeing regular facility audits. You will ensure that our camp facilities not only meet but exceed safety standards and will strategically plan and execute necessary capital projects.

Qualifications

Qualifications for Vice President of YMCA Camping Services:

  • Education and Certification:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Recreation Management, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
    • Certifications in Camping Management, Project Management, or related fields are advantageous.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience in camping, outdoor education, or recreational management.
    • Proven track record in operational management, program development, and master planning within a large-scale recreational or educational setting.
    • Experience leading successful capital campaigns and managing large budgets.

    Essential Functions

    Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Craft and implement a visionary strategy for YMCA Camp Carter, encompassing a variety of programs such as day camps, family camps, outdoor education, membership services, travel camps, retreats, and more.
  • Operational Management:
    • Manage daily operations to maintain and enhance camp facilities and services, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality are consistently achieved.
  • Program Development:
    • Develop and diversify camp offerings to address the evolving needs of our community, emphasizing innovation and the potential for growth and development.
  • Master Planning and Development:
    • Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning and execute major capital campaigns, while leading community outreach and regional development initiatives.
  • Financial Management:
    • Direct all financial aspects of the camp, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, ensuring optimal resource utilization and financial sustainability.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor the camp's Executive and Operations teams, promoting a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and operational excellence.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Strengthen and expand relationships with local community stakeholders and partners to enhance support for the camp and its various programs.
