Student Employee - Teaching Assistant - Computer Science


Job Details

Position Summary:

Student Employees are eligible to work on campus in a part time capacity according to Ensign College Student Employment Policy. In addition to fulfilling this purpose, each employee continuously strives to bring about the mission of Ensign College, which is to develop capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ.

Hours: 15-19 hours a week during semester and the starting wage for all student employees is $14.00 per hour with the possibility of $.25 rate increase each semester of continued work based on merit.

Specific Summary of Duties:

  • Help teachers with grading lab work for Computer Science courses
  • Help with curriculum development projects by creating programming assignments
  • Help with curriculum development projects by writing automated unit tests for programming assignments
  • Help with curriculum development projects by updating canvas with instructions for completing programming assignments
  • Help students who approach them for help and refer to the tutoring office for scheduled tutoring appointments


Job Qualification:

  • Be currently enrolled as an Ensign College student taking at least 6 credits.
  • Ability to produce effective written correspondence through email and other written communication.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively, listen and respond appropriately.
  • Highly self-motivated, hard worker, creative, and has a great attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with the supervisor, team members, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to solve problems and ask for clarification as needed.
  • Proficient in Office 365 and Canvas.
  • Experience with at least two of the following languages:
    JavaScript
    Python
    Java
