Position Description

The Site Support Associate is responsible for ensuring that farm personnel are supplied with the resources required for the continued performance of their regular duties, ensuring the safe and timely transportation of harvest, and for providing support services for general farm operation.

Responsibilities

  • Harvest transportation for lettuce & vine crops within farm site, including transportation from greenhouse to packing/cold storage.
  • Ensuring supply of harvest containers to greenhouses for harvest, including cleaning/sanitizing of harvest containers, and delivery of harvest containers in advance of harvest.
  • Supply/removal of greenwaste bins to greenhouses, ensuring that greenhouses have empty greenwaste bins, as needed, and that full greenwaste bins are not left on site overnight. This includes transportation and emptying of greenwaste bins at greenwaste facility.
  • Trash disposal of bulk loads at the landfill.
  • Transportation of empty pallets from local vendors to farm.
  • General forklift and logistics support for site needs, as they arise.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that forklifts and other rechargeable vehicles are charged, as necessary, and that any damage or malfunctions are reported immediately.
  • Maintaining general site cleanliness and order, including removal of weeds and miscellaneous debris.
  • Safely operate forklift and farm vehicles while adhering to all applicable policies and regulations.
  • Support of Maintenance and Special Projects, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned and as required to maintain continuity of operations.

Minimum years of experience required
  • Minimum of six (6) months of warehouse or distribution experience.

Required Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
  • Must adhere to physical and food safety protocols.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to the needs of the business.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in identifying and adapting to opportunities for continuous process improvement.
  • Effective at collaborating with various teams; excellent interpersonal and communication skills and positive attitude.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks within a given timeline and to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in an environment exposed to elements such as UV and heat.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Preferred Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
  • Knowledge or experience with food safety and recall tracking, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) techniques, and food handling practices that minimize contamination and preserve product condition.
  • Mechanical experience (working on vehicles or shop equipment, etc.)
  • Construction experience.
  • Forklift experience.

Educational Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Certifications and Licenses
  • Ability to obtain forklift, manlift, scissor lift, articulating boom lift, certifications within 90 days of employment.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License issued by the State of Hawaii, with a clear driver's abstract.

Compensation
  • $19.00 - $26.00 / hr
