Reports to: Associate Director of Reference and Adult Services; Associate Director of Youth Services; Associate Director of Circulation/Audiovisual

General Summary (9th Grader may apply)

The Library Page is responsible for putting returned books and other items in their proper places on the shelves.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Checks all returned materials for damages.
  • Cleans returned books before shelving.
  • Responsible for putting returned books and other items in their proper place on the shelves.
  • Responsible for reading shelves - keeping items in the right order.
  • Handles requests for retrieving materials that are in secured areas, such as closed stacks.
  • Assists in checking material back in, when assigned.
  • Straightens public service area before library closing.
  • Performs other entry level duties as assigned.


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to alphabetize and put things in numerical order.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to lift, bend and reach.

Education, Certification, Experience, and Training

Working on or completed high school degree.

Preference may be given to individuals who have done work in the library as a volunteer.
