Are you the Welcome Desk we're looking for?

To be successful as a Seasonal Welcome Desk team member at YMCA of Reading & Berks County, you'll thrive if you excel in customer service both in person and over the phone, as this role is crucial in contributing to member retention. You'll need to be a pro at conducting interviews and giving tours to potential members, effectively selling memberships, and fostering strong relationships with existing members. Handling membership concerns with ease and promptly escalating unresolved issues to your supervisor will be part of your daily routine.

Multi-tasking will be a breeze for you, whether it's assisting customers, answering phones, or performing other duties, all while efficiently handling cashiering responsibilities and making sound decisions in customer service matters.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the branch and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  • Interviews and or tours prospective members sells memberships.
  • Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and to the YMCA.
  • Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
  • Work in nursery or child care as needed.
  • Multi-tasking (helping customers, answer phone, handle other duties).
  • Must be efficient, proficient, and knowledgeable in customer services cashiering and decision making.
