PT Park Quality, Cleaning Services Job Details Job Location Birmingham Zoo - BIRMINGHAM, AL Position Type Part Time PARK QUALITY ATTENDANT **SUMMARY**

The Birmingham Zoo is currently seeking applications for Park Quality Attendants. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Zoo grounds, restrooms, trash collection, and related custodial duties. May also assist with set up/take down for various Zoo special events.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

* Provides excellent customer service at all times to guests and staff.

* Daily cleaning of Zoo grounds including walkways, public and office buildings, and restrooms.

* Demonstrates proper use of all cleaning chemicals and equipment.

* Monitors the Zoos restrooms on a frequent ongoing basis to ensure cleanliness and that all restroom supplies are fully stocked.

* Responsible for following cleaning checklists for cleaning Zoo offices, public buildings, restrooms, and walkways.

* Follows proper trash and cardboard removal procedures.

* Pulls and picks-up trash and recycling throughout the zoo daily.

* Conducts daily morning preparation of Zoo grounds for opening.

* Assists with cleaning needs for after-hours events throughout the year as assigned.

* Assists with the set-up, take down, and storage of tables, props, and other elements for internal and external events throughout the year.

* Other duties as assigned.

**SAFETY ANALYSIS**

The Park Quality Attendant position is impacted by hazardous exposures common to commercial cleaning as well as public safety in an outdoor environment. Some of the following exposures will occur daily:

* The proper use and understanding of cleaning agents

* Thorough understanding of guest safety protocols, particularly with young children.

* Operation of various equipment, some of which require the use of hearing protection.

* Operation of vehicles.

Specific training and procedures will be provided, designed to maintain safety of people as the highest priority of the Zoo followed by the safety of the animal collection. The Park Quality Attendant is responsible to follow safety policies and procedures for their areas. The use and understanding of a variety of personal safety equipment is mandatory.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by staff to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the staff member should expect:

* Use of hands, fingers, tools or controls.

* Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, crawl, crouch and talk or hear.

* Routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

* Exposure to wet surfaces.

* Depending on assignment, exposure to the elements can be expected.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education and work experience

* High School Degree or GED.

Skills and knowledge

* Ability to plan and organize work in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

* Ability to adhere to standard operating policies and procedures.

* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; high energy and enthusiasm for completion of tasks; team building skills; and the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

* Ability to multi-task and coordinate with others to provide deliverables on an agreed upon deadline.

* Ability to convey information clearly and concisely.

* Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

**POSITION TYPE AND HOURS OF WORK**

* Part time

* Weekdays and weekends required, occasional evening hours (during special events) and holidays.
