THE ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT ROLE


At 480th Consulting, the Associate Consultant ( AC ) role is a demanding yet very rewarding early career position for degree holders in STEM or business fields who have 1-3 years of work experience. Qualified candidates are energetic and independent individuals with exceptional and demonstrable quantitative abilities, who can perform rigorous yet creative analyses, learn new industries quickly and work well as an integrated member of a project team.



PREREQUISITES


ACs are expected to be well skilled in the use of analytical techniques and to possess basic spreadsheet and database manipulation skills. In particular, skills with Microsoft Power BI are crucial. They should have excellent team skills and be able to express themselves well both verbally and in writing. The position requires detail oriented, flexible and very organized individuals.


Successful ACs typically have advanced degrees in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics or one of the physical sciences. 480th Consulting is looking for high achievers as demonstrated by superior academic performance at a leading university. Mastery of a foreign language is not a requirement but is advantageous.


Candidates must not require sponsorship, now or in the future, for a work visa to be employed with 480th Consulting in the United States.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


ACs are integral members of project teams which range in size depending on the nature of the business issues being addressed. You'll work in teams of typically 3 - 5 consultants to identify, and oftentimes implement, potential solutions for a specific client problem or challenge. Together, you will help clients make lasting improvements to their performance and realize their most important goals.


When not on an active project, AC s support the business by building and maintaining gold models , training content and maintaining an active presence in professional channels (e.g. LinkedIn).


+ Business Diagnostics and Strategy

  • Structure ambiguous problems into clear solutions using your consulting toolkit . Synthesize complex information into clear takeaways and recommendations using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Work effectively with diverse teams to develop and implement the best solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with all audiences, including senior leaders, and develop your leadership style by leveraging your own passions, strengths, and personal values.


+ Power BI Development

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Analysts, Data Architects, Data Engineers, and stakeholders, to translate project requirements into actionable data insights using Power BI.
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports in Power BI, ensuring they cater to diverse business needs.
  • Utilize Power BI tools such as DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), Power Query, and Power Pivot for advanced analytics, data preparation, and modeling. Implement features like cross-filtering, drill-through, slicers, and Row-Level Security to enhance user interactivity and data privacy.


+ Aimplan Development

  • Design, develop and maintain Aimplan applications leveraging the latest and greatest features of the Aimplan platform. Be one the best Aimplan developers in North America.
  • Drive high customer satisfaction with Aimplan application by applying user-centered design.
  • Enhance and maintain 480th Consulting s gold models .



QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Undergraduate degree with 1+ years of work experience after completing your undergraduate degree, or master s degree. Typically, STEM, physical sciences, business, analytics, and finance degrees are best prepared for this role.
  2. Proficiency with Power BI development, with exposure to the broader Microsoft Fabric suite.
  3. Experience in financial reporting and variance analysis. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) experience is desired, but not required.
  4. Excitement to become one of the best Aimplan developers in North America.
  5. Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Table, Formulas, Standard Reports, etc.).
  6. Strong technical and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization.
  8. Capability to drive an independent workstream in the context of a broader team project.
  9. Comfort with ambiguous, ever-changing situations.
