Maintenance Technician


Job Details

We are seeking Maintenance Technicians (2nd and 3rd shift) to support our Cicero, IL facility. As a Maintenance Tech, you will set up and operate a variety of machine tools, fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools, and maintain industrial machines. The Maintenance Tech will also do installs and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers, such as Maintenance Machinist, to diagnose malfunction.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on metal stock surfaces.
  • Dismantles machine or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part.
  • Replaces defective part with new part or repairs or reproduces part from various kinds of metal stock.
  • Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction.
  • Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches and motors and positions sensing devices.
  • Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic, such as printed circuit boards.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED; plus one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience desirable.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to use tape measure; and to use a computer.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to use tape measure
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and employees of the organization.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
