The Laborer / Fiber Optic Underground Utility Construction Technician supports and assists underground construction crews with the installation, maintenance, relocation, and repair of underground telecommunications network infrastructure. KEY FUNCTIONS: Conduct manual labor activities including but not limited to, digging trenches/holes with shovel, exposing existing underground utilities, greasing equipment, maintaining a clean and safe work zone. Responsible for the installation of utility pedestals, cabinets, and hand holes. Responsible for material handling to include conduit, fiber/cable pulling and installation. Responsible for performing site restoration and cleanup activities, including but limited to grade preparation, black dirt, seeding, and concrete restoration. Responsible for operation of light duty equipment to include skid steer, hydro-vacuum, jackhammer, concrete saw, power tamper.
