Department Overview:

Individual with autism who receives funding and support through Dane County's IRIS Long-term Care program

Anticipated Hours Per Week

between 8-24 hours per week, based on availability

Schedule:

  • Thursday and Friday between 3:00 - 7:00 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 - 7:00 PM

Would prefer someone to be available for at least two of the 4 time slots shown above

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $15.75 to $15.75

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Looking for a dependable, friendly, compassionate person to assist our son, a fun-loving, capable adult with autism in Madison area:

  • Taking him out in the community: shopping, walks/hikes, parks, restaurants, etc.
  • Assisting with meal preparation
  • Other assistance as needed/feasible (no personal care needed)

Great chance for someone looking for a fun part-time opportunity, or for students to gain valuable experience within a field of study while getting paid! Times available:

  • Thursday and Friday between 3:00 - 7:00 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 - 7:00 PM.

(Prefer someone to take at least 2 of the available time slots - there is some flexibility)

His apartment is right next to Hilldale Shopping Center on the west side of Madison, close to shopping and restaurants, on a main bus line.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Some experience with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required
  • Some college
  • Stability, dependability and a predictable schedule
  • Upbeat, positive energy
  • Patience, with a desire to help him learn and become more independent
  • Active, enjoys getting out and doing things
  • Good communicator
  • Ability to prepare basic meals

A valid driver's license and background check are required.

Employer Description:

You would be employed by our son, with funding through the IRIS program (Dane County's long-term care program). Base pay is $15.75/hour with possible travel reimbursement. Starting date: on or after July 18, 2024.
