Transportation Dispatcher


Job Details

Position available for the following shift: Wednesday to Sunday, 11 am to 7 pm.

The Transportation Dispatcher is responsible for promptly answering calls from internal and external customers for transportation needs. The Dispatcher is responsible for the delivery of the call to the drivers in multiple states. Duties also include but not limited to; scheduling, administrative support, coordinating and communicating transport routes, office activities, cost management and other related services for the company.

Specific Essential Job Duties:
Dispatch calls to drivers as they are received, using information on and daily factors such as arrivals, departures, locations, and customer needs to balance cost and speed of response.
Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues.
Must be able to be on call to provide dispatching services.
Courteously interact with internal and external customers.
Oversee and manage transport scheduling assignments.
Prepare reporting for management from time to time as needed.
Perform other related duties as designated by management or executive level management.

Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma/GED required.
College courses highly desired; college courses in business management helpful.
Position requires a minimum of two - four (2-4) years as a dispatcher.
Previous verifiable experience handling duties in the passenger transport business.
Previous experience in the marine agency field helpful but not required.
Possess good organization skills and ability to multi-task procedural and project management tasks within short time constraint situations.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Heavy data entry skills a plus.
Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization.
Strong customer service orientation.
Proven problem-solving skills.
Must have experience effectively managing people.
Type and talk simultaneously, having excellent phone and email communication skills.
Must be able to work daily on call as needed, including some weekends.
Available for after hours, on-call basis as scheduled.
Must be able to work shift from 1400-2200 (2:00pm - 10:00pm) and rotate weekends.
Remote work available but must be near or around the following areas: Mobile AL, Jacksonville FL, Savannah GA, Philadelphia PA, Elizabeth, NJ.

General office setting, typically the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work, usually at a computer terminal - with short breaks or lunch period. Should be able to hear and speak clearly using phone/headset to communicate with customers; be able to navigate, view and enter information into the computer.
