Shipping Clerk - General Requirements

This position requires an individual that is very detail oriented and is capable of working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow directions and effectively process inbound and outbound shipments to ensure all shipping and receiving requirements are met.

Reports to: Shipping and Receiving Lead

Knowledge/Education/Experience:

Minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience working in shipping and receiving, pulling, picking and processing orders.

Capable of maintaining pace and accuracy in a fast-paced shipping environment.

Hi-Lo license preferred.

Experience using shipping software including UPS World Ship and FedEx Ship Manager.

Ability to use ERP tools to access shipping dashboards (schedules) and other information.

Ability to articulate thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner.

Confident and consistent demeanor when dealing with peers, staff and external parties.

Capable of lifting 30 - 70 lbs. on a consistent basis.

Essential Functions:

Evaluating products received from external sources to verify count, condition and confirm that order requirements are met.

Routing received items to responsible departments or staging for outside services.

Maintaining inventory including FIFO to optimize inventory management.

Packaging products for shipment.

Strategic consolidation of multiple items for combined shipments.

Processing shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, Packing Lists and other related documents.

Coordinating and scheduling deliveries for inbound and outbound shipments.

Create Proforma shipping and other related documents necessary to process international shipments.

Processing and meeting compliance requirements including labelling and inclusion of relevant documentation such as SDS sheets for shipments of hazardous materials.

Ability to meet customer specific requirements for packaging, consolidating and labelling of outbound shipments.

Additional Responsibilities:

Providing assistance to Customer Support and Purchasing.

Implement improvements at the product, process and systems levels.

Other responsibilities as determined necessary.

Familiarity with basic Microsoft Office tools - Word, Excel, etc.

8:00 am - 5:00 pm (1 hour for lunch)

Experience:

Forklift: 1 year (Preferred)

Shipping and Receiving: 1 year (Required)
